Contrast of cost of living: What is the difference between the most expensive and cheapest cities in Australia?

The latest report from the cost of living website Numbeo shows that Sydney is the most expensive place to live. Melbourne, Darwin, and Perth are close behind.

According to Numbeo, Sydney is ranked 32nd in the list of the world’s most expensive cities, and in terms of rent, Sydney is ranked 16th. Numbeo said that the cost of living index in Sydney this year rose from 41st last year to 32nd this year.

Melbourne rose from 77th to 64th. Adelaide, Cairns, Hobart and Canberra also ranked 58th, 69th, 82nd and 103rd respectively. Only the cost of living in Perth (56), Darwin (68), and Brisbane (93) has become more affordable.

Rent, child care and restaurant

In terms of child care, the site’s data shows that the Gold Coast is more expensive (2250 yuan), but Adelaide (1600 yuan), Melbourne (1478 yuan), Brisbane (1243 yuan), Perth ( The cost of 1214 yuan, Darwin (1200 yuan), Canberra (1168 yuan) and Hobart (683.33 yuan) are much cheaper.
