“Settled” overseas people do not have to cancel accounts, Australian PR can still be unimpeded between the two countries!

Last week, a piece of news caught the attention of the domestic and exploded in the Australian Chinese circle!
According to the news, the Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau mentioned in the “Regulations on Permanent Residence Account Management in Shanghai” released on March 9:

“If you settle abroad or join a foreign nationality, you should go through the cancellation of your registration with the police station where you live.

If the account registration has not been completed, the police station shall promptly inform the person, the close relative, the head of the household, or the collective account assistant, and if he refuses to cancel his account or inform him of the cancellation of the account registration within one month, he may cancel his/her account. ”

This kind of news made many friends living in Australia feel very nervous, because according to the “settlement” mentioned in the overseas, apart from joining Australian citizens, not only PR, and even many long-term living abroad. People are included.

If the account is forcibly written off, it means that you can not apply for an ID card, leaving only the only passport that can prove your nationality as an identity document…

For this issue, Chinese people at home and abroad have conducted fierce discussions.

Especially with respect to what is “settlement”: Who will be included? What should be done if the person who is included does not have an account and ID card.

Many Chinese who have lived in Australia for a long time said that although they have not joined foreign countries, Chinese friends who have retained the “Chinese bloodline” have suddenly become “water thrown out”, making them a bit chilling.

Even the media speculated that the implementation in Shanghai was only the beginning and it might be extended to the whole country in the future…

Just one week after the news continued to ferment, the Shanghai Public Security Bureau’s official platform, “Public and People’s Police-Shanghai,” published a message saying:
“According to the spirit of the “Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Exit-Entry Administration of Entry and Exit” and the “Detailed Rules for the Implementation of the Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Administration of Entry and Exit” and the relevant provisions of the Ministry of Public Security, the Municipal Public Security Bureau has formulated Article 46 of the “Regulations” The provisions for the cancellation of residence registration of foreigners who have settled and joined foreign countries have been stated in the “Regulations” since 2005.”

“In view of the fact that the current implementation details of the “Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Administration of Entry and Exit” have not yet been formulated, the statutory connotation of “settling abroad” is not yet clear and specific.”

“So, at this stage, the Shanghai public security agency does not cancel the account of the settled abroad.”

This news is also considered to be a sure-footed pill for all overseas travelers.

Of course, for those friends who have already joined Australian nationality, the policy of revoking an account is still valid. However, for the majority of Australian PRs, everyone’s heart can be laid off at this stage.

Retaining Chinese nationality, overseas Chinese friends who hold Australian permanent resident status can still enjoy unimpeded travel between the two countries. Immigration to Australia and the acquisition of Australian PR are still a very attractive option.

What is Australian “PR”?
PR is an acronym for Permanent Resident. It refers to a foreign citizen who holds a visa for permanent resident in Australia and can therefore permanently reside in Australia. The holder of such a visa is not a citizen of the Australian Federation, but accumulatively accumulates residence for two years within five years and can apply for naturalization to become an Australian citizen.

After becoming an Australian PR, there is a chance…
